Welcome to the Renata Project home page. The Renata Project is an investigation into issues regarding the creation of reusable software . It is part of the Software Engineering Research Group in the School of Mathematical and Computing Sciences at Victoria University of Wellington .
Project Goals

Our ultimate goal is to improve our understanding of the nature of software reusability. We are following two main lines of enquiry: language support and tool support.

With language support, we have been looking at how language features help, hinder, or otherwise affect the reusability of code. We have been trying to develop a model to describe how language features affect software reusability. (Sample publications: CS-TR-95/17, CS-TR-98/1, CS-TR-96/19, CS-TR-95/18)

We are also investigating how tool support for reuse can be improved. In particular, we are looking at how to improve documentation of reusable components in the Interactive Visualisation as Documentation project. (Sample publications: CS-TR-98/10, CS-TR-98/3, CS-TR-98/2, CS-TR-97/7)
