The paper describes a process based approach to representating and reasoning with expert knowledge for disease diagnosis. The central contribution is a representation language that supports multi-level, multi-stage descriptions of plant and disease processes. The paper also presents a simple reasoning strategy for using the process descriptions to perform diagnosis.
